WOODLAWN, Tenn. – Two Woodlawn residents have been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

According to arrest warrants, James Stephen Green and Angela Dawn Green allegedly “failed to provide adequate care to a dog under their care, which resulted in the death of the dog.”

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control Director Jeanette Farrell said the deceased dog, as well as a living one, had been abandoned by an individual who had reportedly moved out of the home.

The suspects said they were unable to contact the owner.

Farrell said they did not attempt to contact Animal Control and that the dogs were left in kennels in the backyard without food or water.

One of the dogs died from hypothermia, according to a veterinarian. The other dog survived and has been adopted.

Farrell noted that the suspects had two dogs of their own chained in the front yard.

The suspects were each given a bond of $1,000.
