CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Multiple 9/11 remembrance ceremonies are planned for the Clarksville and Fort Campbell areas.
Fort Campbell’s ceremony will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the division monument.
During the ceremony, an invocation will be given and Maj. Gen. Gary J. Volesky will make remarks, after which he and the division command sergeant major will place a wreath at the division monument. This will be followed by 30 seconds of silence, firing volley, and the playing of Taps.
The City of Clarksville will hold a ceremony Friday at 4:45 p.m. at McGregor Park as part of Riverfest. Fort Campbell’s Army band will be in attendance.
Following the ceremony, Team RWB Nashville/Clarksville will host its annual 9/11 Moving Flag Tribute. This is a 2.6-mile route open to runners, walkers, strollers, and scooters. Participants are asked to bring an American flag to wave.
Clarksville Fire Rescue will host a 9/11 ceremony Friday at 6 p.m. at Fire Station 1, located at 802 Main Street. During the ceremony a new statue will be unveiled to honor those who died in the terrorist attacks of September 11 as well as firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
