Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The last major Welcome Home Ceremony for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team “STRIKE” saw 168 soldiers greeted by family, friends and comrades at Fort Campbell as they returned from a nine-month deployment. The small number of 2nd Brigade soldiers remaining in Iraq will be returning home on flights shortly to ceremonies with their families.

Major General Andrew Poppas, Commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, said this to the soldiers during the ceremony. “Welcome Home, you’ve lived up to and upheld the high standards of Strike and the legacy of excellence in combat continues on because of your actions,” said Poppas.

The Task Force Strike soldiers are coming home from serving in Operation Inherent Resolve with the mission to advise and assist, train, and equip the Iraqi security forces to fight and defeat Da’esh. The unit also supported intelligence and logistical operations for Coalition and Iraqi forces.
