CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The annual Little Miss and Mr. Clarksville Pageant will be back again June 9, 2018 with big changes.

This natural beauty pageant focuses on a child’s self-confidence and self-expression. For the first time, the pageant will be held at Austin Peay State University’s Clement Auditorium, allowing the children the opportunity to get real stage experience.

Beginning at 11 a.m., the pageant will have multiple divisions for boys and girls from birth to 10-years-old to participate.

The age categories are as follows: Itty Bitty (12-months and under), Teeny (12-months to 24-months-old), Tiny (Three & Four-Year-Olds), Mini (Five & Six-Year-Olds), Petite (Seven & Eight-Year-Olds), Junior (Nine & Ten-Years-Old). Children must be born on or before the event date to fall into the appropriate categories.

Each age division will have a winner. Children will be reviewed based on the following: confidence on stage, self-expression, and an age appropriate interview question. Winners receive a crown, sash, and floral arrangement.

The Junior Division will crown the overall Little Miss Clarksville and Little Mr. Clarksville. The overall winners will represent the pageant throughout the year in the community. This includes being an advocate for the pageant’s platform: anti-bullying.

The winners will attend community events including Stuff the Bus, Combat Hunger, Toy Drive, and the Christmas Parade allowing the children the opportunity to serve their community. The winners will also attend school events, as applicable, to speak out on anti-bullying.

To educate the children on self-empowerment and anti-bullying, pageant organizers have partnered with Sharon Kaye Edwards, local community activist. Edwards has spoken to local schools and Austin Peay students on the subject of bullying and self-esteem.
