CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Every year during the holidays, the Youth Group at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Clarksville chooses a community service organization, and the youth group raises funds for the chosen organization.

After a series of Sunday lessons on community service and activism, the youth group members were asked to choose a local community service organization. They chose Foster Care 2 Fabulous because they wanted to help foster children.

The group collected bags and held two bake sales so that they could make both a monetary donation and a donation of items needed.

The Youth Group raised $150.00 from a bake sale and collected school backpacks for children who are in the foster care system.

“In the process, the youth group has learned a lot about community service and how one person’s vision can make a difference,” organizer Shana Thornton said.
