CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The “Fight for a Knight” wrestling benefit has raised $5,000 for the Kenwood Middle School families impacted by the March 27 bus crash, with funds expected to reach families as early as next week.

Billy Pace Memorial Championship Wrestling – owned by Billy and Jamie Pace – hosted the benefit June 19 at the National Guard Armory. Between admission sales, concessions and the silent auction, the fundraiser brought in $5,000 to support the students and teachers who were on the bus that day.

Pace said giving back is central to why the promotion exists. “It means everything, just to be able to give back to the community,” he said. “When our son was murdered, the community jumped to our aid and they helped us. So we feel like it’s time to give back to the community and help in ways that we can, by doing benefit fundraisers.”

On Wednesday, organizers David and Jessica Cowger, along with the Paces, presented the donation to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation.

Executive Director Robin Burton and Coordinator Haley Davis accepted the funds on behalf of the families. Burton told Clarksville Now the check will be deposited Wednesday, and once the funds clear, the foundation will begin issuing payments.

“We will cut the checks on Monday and they will go to the families via mail on Monday with a letter explaining the funds,” Burton said. Families should expect to receive the money a few days after the checks are mailed.
