CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Woodlawn Little League hosted a Field Dedication Ceremony to Donnie Kirkland during their Opening Ceremony on April 15.
Donnie Kirkland was the founder of the Woodlawn Little League in 1997 and gave countless hours to cleaning up the park and creating a safe place for the local youth to play and learn baseball and softball.

His wife Jeanette Kirkland and his children Danny, Amy (Carroll) and Cheryl (Swarens) were by his side helping and supporting his love for the kids.
Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden gave a proclamation to Jeanette Kirkland in honor of Donnie Kirkland’s legacy in Woodlawn and for the many youths he impacted through his love for his community and for baseball.
Donnie’s daughter, Amy Carroll, spoke about her father’s love for the local youth. State Rep. Jeff Burkhart also gave a tribute to Donnie.
After the ceremony concluded, Jeanette Kirkland’s words were, “Donnie would have loved this.”
