CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A woman fell down a 50 ft. drop at King and Queen’s Bluff in Clarksville Tuesday morning.

Clarksville Fire Rescue and Montgomery County EMS responded to the scene.

26-year-old Sarah Eggeling was evacuated by water and transported to an ambulance before being LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

EMS Shift Captain Scott Marshall said the victim lost consciousness initially and suffered lower extremity injuries. She regained consciousness during the rescue.

“Our biggest concern was the mechanism of the fall,” Marshall said. “There are several things that could happen.”

He said the woman was walking the trails when she slipped and fell.

“She’s in a pretty decent amount of pain,” Dustin Hartley, who was with Eggeling when she fell, told WKRN News 2.

“The rocks were crumbling away and it was a narrow path and she just slipped and fell,” he explained.

It was Eggeling’s first time hiking at the bluff after just moving to Tennessee from California to live with her best friend, Lauren Anderson.

“She has broken bones in both of her arms,” Anderson told News 2. “Her right knee cap is also broken.”

Anderson also said Eggeling is a single mother of a 6-year-old boy.

“Talking to her up there, she says the only thing she could really think about was her son,” she added.

This is the second time someone has been injured at the bluff this year. The bluff is located on Max Court off the 41A Bypass. The area is private property and is not owned by the City of Clarksville.
