CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Lightning storms tried to keep teams off the field in Week 4, but outside of Kenwood-West Creek being pushed to Monday afternoon, every area team got to play. I also went a perfect 6-0 in my picks over the weekend and will be looking to keep that momentum going this week.
With two undefeated teams left in Montgomery County, will either fall this week?
Game of the Week: #9 West Creek Coyotes (0-3) @ #7 Rossview Hawks (0-4)
This is by far the least flashy Game of the Week to this point in the season, but it’s Week 5’s only matchup between area teams. Rossview isn’t an 0-4 caliber team, they’ve just had a gauntlet to start the year.
West Creek will be on a short week, playing its Week 3 matchup against Kenwood Monday afternoon. That adds another disadvantage for the Coyotes, who have really struggled this year and will be looking for a step in the right direction Friday night.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Rossview 42 – West Creek 7.
#1 Kirkwood Cobras (4-0) @ East Robertson Indians (4-0)
It’s unfortunate this game isn’t in Clarksville this year because it was an absolute barnburner last fall. Kirkwood fell 28-24 and will be looking for revenge in this season’s matchup.
In the preseason, I predicted one hiccup for the Cobras, and I think it comes here. Kirkwood has started 4-0 in every season of the school’s existence, but has dropped its Week 5 matchup each year. The Cobras have the defense, but they haven’t seen anything like the Indians this season.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: East Robertson 20 – Kirkwood 17.
Hickman County Bulldogs (2-2) @ #2 Montgomery Central Indians (4-0)
Montgomery Central just keeps rolling. With a 4-0 start, the Indians have climbed from No. 6 to No. 2 since the preseason area rankings came out. On Saturday, they kept their success on the ground going with Malosi Laban scoring four first-half touchdowns.
Homecoming should be sweet on the Hill for the Indians against the smaller 2A school.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Montgomery Central 42 – Hickman County 24.
#3 Clarksville Wildcats (2-2) @ McGavock Raiders (1-3)
Clarksville beat up on Overton 31-0 in the first half Friday, and the Bobcats never came back out of the locker room. Hopefully, the Wildcats get to play a second half this week, but McGavock hasn’t looked much better than Overton.
The Raiders were beaten 76-0 by Antioch on Friday, so I expect another week of disappointment for McGavock.

#4 Kenwood Knights (1-2) @ Pearl-Cohn Firebirds (1-3)
Kenwood will be headed into the fire on Friday. Pun intended, but Pearl-Cohn is much better than its record suggests. The Firebirds have played some of the best teams in Tennessee through four weeks, including falling just short against Oakland, 29-28, on Friday.
The Knights will be outmatched by the Firebirds.

Dickson County Cougars (2-2) @ #5 Northwest Vikings (2-2)
Region play kicks off for Northwest on Friday, and it’s not hyperbole to say this one may have playoff implications. The Vikings will look to prove they’re within that playoff tier by knocking off a very solid Dickson County team.
The Vikings had their hands full with Montgomery Central’s running game, and I don’t expect things to get much easier against Dickson County.
Clarksville Now’s Pick: Dickson County 31 – Northwest 13
#6 Northeast Eagles (1-3) @ Lawson Lightning (4-0)
Northeast didn’t look impressive Friday night, getting shut out in its matchup against Kirkwood. Starting quarterback Kayden Davis will be suspended for this one after throwing a punch against the Cobras.
Lawson is undefeated, but its strength of schedule is quite questionable. The Lightning will get the victory, but it will be closer than expected.

#8 Fort Campbell Falcons (1-3) @ Todd County Central Rebels (0-4)
Fort Campbell has had its moments this year, but outside of a dominant performance against Clarksville Academy, the Falcons have struggled to put it all together. You would think Clarksville Academy would be the Falcons’ most winnable matchup, but a case needs to be made for Todd County Central.
The Rebels have been outscored 136-0 over the last two weeks and are yet to keep an opponent from scoring 50 points.

Friendship Christian Commanders (3-1) @ #10 Clarksville Academy Cougars (0-4)
Clarksville Academy gave its best effort Friday against reigning state champion Nashville Christian. The Cougars fell 40-0 before the game was called at halftime.
This week, they face another very talented football team in Friendship Christian. Hopefully, the Cougars have fun and escape healthy.
