CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Following the severe winter weather Clarksville was hit with last week, let’s take a look how trash service companies are tackling their residential and commercial routes as ice begins to melt.
Waste Connections of Clarksville
After a week on pause, Waste Connections resumed running their residential and commercial routes on Monday, however, drivers have discretion based on conditions of the areas they service.
“Many parking lots, side roads, and access points for the commercial enclosures remain uncleared, making conditions unsafe or too dangerous in some locations,” said a company Facebook post. “The safety of our employees and the community remains our top priority, so we ask for your understanding if certain areas are skipped or delayed.
“We’re hopeful that conditions will improve by Monday evening with the warmer temperatures, which should make Tuesday much smoother.”
Waste Connections told customers that any missed service will be collected on their next regularly scheduled pickup day. To help the recovery process, customers are asked to place any extra bags behind their trashcan. One Waste Connections spokesperson told Clarksville Now if you are concerned about animals getting into your extra bags, black pepper can be used as a natural repellant.

Stinky Pinky of Clarksville
Stinky Pinky also was closed last week due to the hazardous winter conditions. However, they have resumed their regular trash pickup schedule this week.
Customers who were not served last week are asked to set their extra bags to the side of the trashcan for pickup. A Stinky Pinky spokesperson told Clarksville Now that in the event some roads are still hazardous, and the truck isn’t able to service them, call the business so all parties can handle the issue from there.

Bi-County Landfill / Convenience Centers
The Bi-County Landfill reopened Wednesday, and most of their convenience centers reopened over the weekend.
Bi-County Executive Director Mark Neblett told Clarksville Now their convenience center locations will take as much as they can. “There’s a sign that says 10 bags, but our attendants should waive some of that,” he said. Neblett said a lot of convenience center locations have two compactors, and the operators at each location should know how many pounds of pressure the compactors have left.
He said people still need to be careful heading to and from Bi-County’s locations due to remaining ice.
Bi-County’s landfill is at 3212 Dover Road in Woodlawn, and here are the convenience center locations:
- Woodlawn Convenience Center – 3210 Dover Road in Woodlawn.
- Bo Peep Center – 191 Bo Peep Lane.
- Fredonia Center – 4675 Ashland City Highway.
- Ferry Road Convenience Center – 2351 Ferry Road.
- Sango Center – 77 Quail Hollow Road.
- Southside Center – 5068 Southside Road-Highway 48.
- Arcata/St. Bethlehem Convenience Center – 3801 Guthrie Highway.
- Transfer Station – 1230 Highway Drive.
- Barge Point Road Station – 730 Barge Point Road.
