NASHVILLE, TN (WKRN) – Two years after a surge of opening four locations in Clarksville and 20 others across Middle Tennessee, Whataburger announced this week it will close two of the Clarksville spots, along with two other locations.

The 24-hour burger joint made a splash four years ago when it announced plans to expand into the Volunteer State. The first announced location was in Hermitage. Since then, the restaurant opened stores in the Nashville area and beyond, including Clarksville, Antioch, Hendersonville, Madison, Murfreesboro and Smyrna.

Now, the company said closure of certain locations was necessary, even as it continues to bring the Texas-based chain to new communities. Four of the current 24 Middle Tennessee Whataburger locations will be closing, according to the company. They are:

  • Clarksville: 791 North 2nd St.
  • Clarksville: 1602 Haynes St.
  • Mt. Juliet: 11190 Lebanon Road
  • Murfreesboro: 1924 Memorial Blvd.

A statement from a Whataburger spokesperson said the closures were part of a way for the company to “maximize opportunities for growth” and would help “focus our efforts where we can make the biggest impact” in the communities it serves.

The two other Whataburger Clarksville locations will remain open at 1800 Fort Campbell Blvd. and 599 Fire Station Road.
