PARIS, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The West Creek Coyotes traveled to Henry County High School for the district 14- 3A championship game against the Patriots. An instant classic of a contest took overtime and a penalty shootout to decide the winner. However, it was the Coyotes who came out on top and won the shootout 4-2 to earn their second consecutive district 14 title.

The game was a shootout from the beginning, with both offenses putting up big numbers. Andreiyk Orellana Solano lead the way for the Coyotes, scoring two goals in regulation. However, after 80 minutes of play, the two teams were tied at 3, so the game moved into overtime where neither team found the back of the net. So, they headed to a penalty kick shootout to decide the district champion.

In the shootout for West Creek, TJ Cowan, Solano, and Romeo Sanchez all netted penalty kicks, while the district 14 keeper of the year, Alex Cruz Lopez, held the Patriots to only two makes in the shootout. Javian Daley netted the game-winning goal, and the Coyotes celebrated their second straight district championship title.

“The team feels great that they have won the district title for the second year in a row,” said Coyotes head coach Craig Nakutis. “This is a big step in the journey, but they are focused on more.”
