CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With the remnants of Hurricane Helene likely to bring heavy rainfall to Clarksville, a Flood Watch has been issued from Thursday evening through Saturday morning.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the National Weather Service alert said. “Low-water crossings may be flooded.”
Meteorologist Sam Herron with the National Weather Service in Nashville said when Helene arrives, things will “get wild pretty quickly.”
“The deep tropical moisture associated with Hurricane Helene is going to come up this way and really soak the area pretty good (Thursday) and on through Friday,” Herron told Clarksville Now.

One NWS model shows Montgomery and surrounding counties getting 4-5 inches through Saturday. Rainfall should start Thursday night.
As the storm approaches, Wind Advisories for some gusts of 40 to 45 mph may be issued for parts or all of the midstate, but there is too much uncertainty on precise locations at this time, the NWS said.
“All of that will be settling down a little bit as we go through Saturday and Sunday, but still a lot of that moisture will be hanging around,” Herron said. “So scattered showers and storms on and off through the weekend before that finally gets out of here as we get into next week and we go back to a drier pattern.”
