LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – “The happiest place on earth” has announced they are going to close Walt Disney World Resort “in an abundance of caution”. The closure will begin March 16 and is currently planned through the end of the month.

The company confirmed in a statement on their website they will continue to pay Cast Members during the closure period.

Disney Resort hotels and Disney Springs will remain open until further notice.

The company will continue to stay in contact with appropriate officials and health experts.

Walt Disney Resorts will continue to inform guests on any impacts to existing and future reservations during the expected closures. Information on modifying reservations or receiving refunds will be available on their website.

This resort closure followed the State of Emergency declared by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis due to the coronavirus global pandemic.

Walt Disney World is the most visited resort in the world. An estimated 142,000 people visit the park daily.

Update: Walt Disney Company confirmed parks in Florida, California, and Paris will all close until the end of the month, beginning March 16. Disney Cruise line will also suspend travel.
