CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition held its monthly meeting on April 20, 2016 at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza downtown Clarksville.
There were approximately 40 members in attendance that represented various organizations, agencies and businesses that provide services to our local veteran population.
Presenters for the day were representatives from the Tennessee Veterans Administration office located in Murfreesboro, TN. First presenter was Mr. Glen Wallace, who spoke on Eligibility and Enrollment. The second speaker was Mr. Marcus Bales, who presented on the TRI-WEST Choice Program. Both presentations were very informative and initiated quite a few questions from the attending members.
Other notable updates/topics was that Senator Mark Green has agreed to find the funding forvVeterans to have the war memorial room for the next Veterans Day on the Hill. Planning will start at the end of the month.
Although the primary goal of the Coalition at this time is coordination of programs and information exchange, there have also been services provided to individual veterans to include assistance in obtaining housing for four veterans, building a ramp, and getting a veteran transferred to a new location where he had employment waiting for him.
The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition continues to be an organization that is active in its community. The Coalition’s main focus is to make a difference for our Veterans in our local community in our state and eventually our country.
