On their official US Army Twitter page the US Army said, “For 244 years, the Army has had a rich history and longstanding mission in support of the nation and the support of its people. Here’s to another year of our force securing America’s freedom.”

According to the Army, the theme of this year’s birthday is, “America’s Army: Honoring the Call to Service from D-Day to Today,” a fitting theme for Fort Campbell’s own 101st Airborne Division.
Fort Campbell spent the first part of June paying tribute to the events surrounding June 6. This year marks 75-years since D-Day, when thousands of Screaming Eagles jumped in the dead of night behind enemy lines as part of Mission Albany, the first stage of D-Day.
While it is estimated that over 12,000 men were lost, the 101st Airborne was crucial in providing Allied Forces with a D-Day victory. Now, 75 years later, the US Army honors the men and women of the 101st Airborne Division as a vital part of its 244-year history.
Happy Birthday U.S. Army. What is better way to celebrate the day than the Army song, sung by one of the Army’s cutest supporters?
