CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.  (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As Clarksville-Montgomery County works to begin  recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, one nonprofit organization, Urban Ministries Grace Assistance, continues its efforts to help feed those who are hungry in the community.

Every Thursday in May, Urban Ministries is giving out food boxes between the hours of 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Madison Street United Methodist Church.  It is the rear parking lot of the church located on Commerce Street.

Urban Ministries volunteer Ann Thompson said each of the boxes contain food items like meat, canned goods, cereal, milk, bread, juice, rice, and desserts. Each person or family seeking a donation of food will need to provide a photo ID proving they live in Montgomery County.

The food boxes are handed out curbside in a safe manner as people drive up in their vehicles.  All Urban Ministries volunteers are also practicing social distancing while wearing masks and gloves.

Urban Ministries Grace Assistance was founded in 1984 as a ministry of Madison Street United Methodist Church.  The organization offers assistance with emergency food, shelter, utilities, medicine, and other services from their location at 211 S. 3rd Street in downtown Clarksville.
