CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All Programs require reservations by the deadline listed.

Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult per every three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child whom is younger or older than the age limits given.

Sunday, October 9th
2:00 – 3:30 pm Trail Hike (Dunbar Cave State Natural Area) All Ages
Join us for a 2 mile hike on our Recovery Trail. We will discuss how the trail got its name and see what wildlife we can spot. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water.

Create your own guide book of prints you may find out in the woods.

1:30 – 2:00 pm Ssssnakes! (Dunbar Cave State Natural Area) Children
Learn about our native snakes of Tennessee and why they are so great to keep around.

Sunday, October 16th
2:00 – 3:00 pm Let’s Get Batty (Dunbar Cave State Natural Area) Children
Meet us by the cave entrance to learn all about the Little Brown Bats of Dunbar Cave. Children will get a chance to paint a salt dough ornament of a bat of their own.

Thursday, October 20th
3:30 – 4:30 pm Afternoon Stroll (Dunbar Cave State Natural Area) All Ages
Wind down from your day with an afternoon stroll on the 1.1 mile Short Loop Trail. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water.

Saturday, October 22nd
3:00 – 4:00 pm Trail of Tears (Port Royal State Historic Park) All Ages Come out to Port Royal as we learn about the forced removal of the Cherokee Nation along our preserved section of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. Meet at the River Bottom Trailhead parking area on the North side of the highway bridge (opposite side of river from canoe access and picnic area). This will be an easy half mile hike. 10:00 – 11:00 am History Hike (Port Royal State Historic Park) All Ages
Join us at Port Royal and learn about the town that used to be here and its role as one of the earliest towns in Middle Tennessee. This will be an easy walk around the park. Meet on the front porch of the old Masonic Lodge (brick building). They always say, “The early bird catches the worm”. Let’s start our day with a 1.1 mile hike around the Short Loop Trail listening to birds and watching for animals. Please wear good walking shoes and bring water.
