CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay soccer senior captains, Renee Semaan and Mary Parker Powell, each earned Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors for the week of Sept. 17.
For Semaan, it was the first time in her Governor career that she received the OVC Defensive Player of the Week award. The senior defender from Knoxville, played a major role in the Gov’s allowing only three shots on goal in Sunday’s home match against Evansville. Semaan also recorded an insurance goal on a header off of a corner kick for her fourth career goal and first since Aug. 18, 2017.
Powell had a stellar performance in net for Austin Peay Sunday, walking away with her fourth career OVC Goalkeeper of the Week award. The senior keeper from Germantown posted her first shutout of 2019 and the 10th of her career. Powell made three saves against Evansville, and was the only keeper in the OVC to record a shutout last week.
This is the second year in a row that the Governors have claimed two of the three OVC weekly honors in a given week.
