CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) With the Thanksgiving weekend being one of the heaviest travel periods of the year, drivers are reminded that Tennessee’s Move Over law (“Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicles Law” (T.C.A. 55-8-132) requires motorists to move over into the adjacent lane of traffic, when safe to do so, or alternatively to slow down for emergency vehicles.
State and local law enforcement will increase patrols and enforcement efforts through Sunday and the additional traffic presents a potential hazard for officers working to keep roads safe over the holiday weekend.
Drivers that encounter a problem or spot another motorists engaged in dangerous behavior can contact Tennessee Highway Patrol by cell phone at *THP.
