Update, 8:40 a.m.: Riverside Drive is back open and traffic is back to normal.

“The status of those injured is unknown at this time, but is not considered life threatening,” Beaubien said.

Update, 7:35 a.m.: One northbound land and one southbound lane of Riverside Drive are now open. Police are still working at the crash site.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Two cars crashed this morning on Riverside Drive, causing several lanes to be shut down.

At about 5:09 a.m., the cars crashed near Current Street, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.

Both drivers and a passenger were transported to Tennova Healthcare, and their status has not been released.

The northbound lanes of Riverside were shut down, and one southbound lane was closed, causing serious traffic issues.

CPD is asking the public to avoid the area and find alternate routes until the roadway can be cleared.
