Update, 8:30 a.m. Friday: The motorcyclist was pronounced dead while en route to Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital, CPD said Friday morning. He was an active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, and his name has not yet been released.
The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from the vehicle, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
Update, 10:45 p.m.: The roadway is back open.
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Thursday evening on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
At about 6:24 p.m., the motorcycle crashed with an SUV near Rufus Johnson Road, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Scott Beaubien.
As of 7:15 p.m., the northbound lanes of MLK were shut down between Madison Street and Rufus Johnson Road while FACT Investigators process the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternate route until the roadway can be cleared.
