CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Some very long, very heavy steel bridge beams will be moving through Clarksville starting today around 11 a.m., with a route down Boot Hill.

“The bridge beams are on their way to being delivered to Clarksville with an estimated arrival time between so 11 a.m.-1 p.m.,” said police spokesman Scott Beaubien. “CPD recommends the public take alternate routes during this timeframe or prepare for a temporary delay while they clear the intersections.”

The trucks will be coming from the Dover area, so the route will be from Dover Road to Providence Boulevard, right on Providence to go down Boot Hill, then right on Riverside Drive, then right onto Highway 48/13, Beaubien said.

CPD traffic units will be escorting the trucks, and when they arrive at the intersections of Providence and Riverside, and Riverside Drive and 48/13, the intersections will be closed for 15-20 minutes.

Eleven of these beams will be coming, today, Friday and Saturday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day.

The tentative plan is to bring four spans on Thursday, three spans on Friday, and four more on Saturday, Beaubien said.

The beams are destined for the Highway 48/13 bridge over the Cumberland River, under construction south of Clarksville.
