CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) After seven seasons as the head football coach of the Clarksville Academy Cougars, Todd Hood will step down and become the new head coach of the Rossview Hawks.
This decision comes seven weeks after former Rossview coach Ron Lambert resigned. Hood, who took Clarksville Academy to six straight playoff appearances, welcomes the new challenge.
“First I would like to thank Clarksville Academy for a great experience and I enjoyed every minute building young men as well as building the program. I look forward to a new challenge at Rossview and building a solid 6A program. Rossview has a great school and a very supportive administration that wants to succeed in every area. I hope those student-athletes are hungry for a new challenge and ready to compete daily,” Hood said.
This move fills one head coaching vacancy, but still leaves Northeast, Ft. Campbell, and now Clarksville Academy in search of replacements. With the new region alignments, Rossview will now play in the 6A classification. The Hawks will now face regional opponents such as Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central, and Station Camp. They open their 2017 season against crosstown rival Clarksville High on August 18.
Head of School Kay Drew talked about Hood leaving.
“Clarksville Academy wishes Coach Hood success in his new position. We are very proud of the advancements our football program has made in the past six years under his leadership. He has been an effective and well-respected leader in our school We wish Todd and his family the very best.
“We are positioned well with a strong foundation for our football team as we transition to a Division II schedule. We have a terrific group of student athletes who will continue to be successful on the football field and in the classroom,” Drew said.
Drew also said that Duncan Williams will be serving as the interim varsity football coach during the search. Coach Williams has been a member of Clarksville Academy’s faculty and football coaching staff for nine years. He is a 2008 graduate of Austin Peay State University where he was a four-year letterman for the Governor football team.
“We will work quickly, but with careful thought and discussion to find our next football coach. We have the outstanding support of our Clarksville Academy community and boosters, and are confident that we’ll soon find the best and most qualified coach to lead our varsity football program,” said Athletic Director Jake Peterson.
