NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans roster is down to 80 after the team made its first round of cuts Sunday letting go 10 players.
The most surprising cut was veteran offensive lineman Fernando Velasco who was with the team for the second time. Velasco can play both center and guard offering the team experience and versatility.
The Titans parted ways with a local player waiving linebacker Dezmond Johnson. Johnson starred at Overton High School in Nashville before playing at Duke.
Also let go were linebacker Nate Askew, cornerback Will Brown, wide receiver Tebucky Jones, wide receiver Deon Long, defensive end Derrick Lott, guard Justin McCray, kicker Mike Meyer and linebacker Chaz Sutton.
The Titans have until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to get the roster down to 75 players. Final roster cuts are due by Saturday at 3 p.m. when they have to be down to their final 53 players.
