CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay captured a pair of singles titles and a doubles title Saturday at the APSU Fall Invitational, as the Governor women’s tennis team recorded a stellar opening weekend.
Junior Fabienne Schmidt defeated Southeast Missouri State’s Romana Tarajova 6-4, 7-5 to win the Flight one championship while sophomore-transfer Martina Paladini-Jennings made her Governors debut and took down Murray State’s Sara Loncarevic 6-3, 6-2 in the Flight two championship.
On the doubles side, Schmidt and Danielle Morris brought home the Flight one championship after knocking off the Murray State duo of Claire Chang and Anja Loncarevic.
The Govs will be back in action Friday, September 27 when they take to the courts at the UCA Fall Classic in Conway, Arkansas.
