Update, 3:20 p.m.: At 3 p.m., the temperature at the airport was 100 degrees, for the second day in a row. But with humidity dropping, the heat index matched the temperature.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The high temperature hit 100 degrees at 3 p.m. at the Clarksville Regional Airport, and with it came a 103 heat index.

More of the same expected through the weekend, and the National Weather Service has extended its Heat Advisory to 7 p.m. Sunday.

In response to the heat, the Montgomery County Soccer Association has canceled Saturday’s games, with a scheduled make-up day on Nov. 7. “While the conditions may technically allow us to play under our heat guidelines, we are choosing to err on the side of caution,” MCSA said in a statement. “We feel this is the safest and most responsible approach for our players, referees, coaches, volunteers and spectators.”

Clarksville has been flirting with the 100-degree mark all week. Here are the readings taken at Clarksville Regional Airport:

  • Tuesday: 99 at 3 p.m., 105 index
  • Wednesday: 98 at 4 p.m., 105 index
  • Thursday: 99 at 3 p.m., 103 index
  • Friday: 100 at 3 p.m., 103 index

Temperatures should finally begin cooling down Monday night, with an expected high of 95 and a low finally below 70 at 68 degrees, then a Tuesday high down to 87.
