CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Bomb Squad was called to the Ringgold Post Office Monday evening due to a suspicious package, which was discovered around 6:28 p.m.

The post office is located on Fort Campbell Blvd. but has a Ringgold Rd. entrance.

Clarksville Police Department spokesman Jim Knoll said the office was evacuated and the squad was called in as of 7:15 p.m.

The package is a black box with what appeared to be a missile symbol on the box. The bomb squad approached the package with a portable x-ray machine to see the contents inside. When they checked the image they did not see any wires or objects that would be considered dangerous.

After inspection, it was determined to be a child’s toy in a bucket in a black box with a missile image painted on the outside. There was no address on the box.

A portion of Ringgold Rd. was temporarily closed and some surrounding residences, part of an apartment complex, and Burger King were evacuated as a precaution.

The road is now open and residents have returned to their homes.
