CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) –The 2024-25 high school basketball regular season for all Clarksville-area schools has come to an end as teams prepare for postseason play.

Some teams have already advanced to regional play, some have even won state championships, while the area teams are just getting prepared for the first round of districts. This season has been filled with upsets, unlikely heroes, and domination from top-level student-athletes. Here are the top storylines heading into the postseason.

Rivalry intensified

The Clarksville High girls’ basketball team had won 44 consecutive regular season games until the Rossview Lady Hawks ended their streak weeks ago. Thanks to Rossview High winning a coin toss, the Lady Hawks now assume the number one overall seed heading into district play.

Rossview and CHS are on a collision course to see if they can play one another for a third time this season. However, it would be in the district championship this time around, but Northeast or Kirkwood may have something to say about that.

Play-in madness

Seven Clarksville-area teams will play to keep their seasons alive on Tuesday night. The Northeast Lady Eagles travel to Springfield in the only matchup not involving two Clarksville teams.

West Creek girls’ basketball is set to play at Kenwood High for a rivalry matchup, elimination game. Meanwhile, on the boy’s side of District 14-4A, Northwest heads to West Creek, where somebody’s season will also end. Lastly, the Northeast High boys’ basketball team will head to Rossview for the play-in game for District 13-4A. Who can extend their season and make a deep postseason run? We’ll find out more in the coming days.

The wild, wild, west

Northwest, West Creek, and Kenwood finished as the bottom three seeds in district 14-4A. However, they’ve all shown they can compete with Henry County and Dickson County, the top two seeds in their district.

This district is not foreign to Cinderella stories, as a bottom three seed has represented them in the region championship for the last two years. Which team makes a run into March?

State or Bust

Clarksville Academy’s boys’ basketball, who are already a week into their postseason, have a win or go home against Webb School on Tuesday night.

The Cougars are playing some of their best basketball of the year, as they upset Friendship Christian on Friday and then battled with the top team in the state, Goodpasture, days later. With a win, the Cougars would qualify for the state tournament for the third time in four years.
