CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Officials have not yet confirmed whether a tornado struck the small town of Crofton, Ky, just north of Hopkinsville, in Christian County. Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, tornado watches and warnings covered much of the area Monday night as storms ripped through parts of Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.
A trained weather spotter near Crofton reported the possible tornado and high winds Monday evening around 8:00pm.
The circulation, which appeared on National Weather Service radar, was around Pleasant Grove Road. This area is south of Crofton and reported damage to roofs of houses, carports, and downed trees.
Meteorologist Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky said crews from his office will be in the area Tuesday morning to determine if it was a tornado that caused the damage in Christian County.
Areas of Middle Tennessee were also affected by the severe storms.
Two people were killed after a tornado struck downtown Nashville around 1 a.m. causing extensive damage. Parts of East Nashville are ‘flattened’ according to some reports. Read more on WKRN News Channel 2
