CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Clarksville Department of Electricity (CDE) presented a donation Monday to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy.
CDE and TVA are both Partners in Education with CMCSS and the STEM program and presented the check for $1,000 to Christi Fordham, Assistant Principal at Kenwood High School and lead administrator for the STEM Academy.
Fordham talked about the support STEM has received from TVA and CDE. “One of the things they have done for us is provide a donation for us to use for things that we wouldn’t normally have in the school budget,” said Fordham.
Fordham added that the money is used in part for field experiences for students so they can get out and work with different experts in the community. TVA and CDE have also provided expertise for the STEM engineering class.
“TVA just appreciates the opportunities to partner with both our customers and our education with science and math and the type of curriculum that would lead students to ultimately be employees at TVA,” said Ryan Leister, Customer Service Manager with TVA.
