STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray says he thinks there are more people involved in the Kirby Wallace case. Suspected murderer Wallace led police on a week-long chase in Stewart and Montgomery counties last September.
“I’ve said that all along. I do think there’s other people involved. I think there’s people that helped him before and after he committed a crime and I’m hoping as the investigation continues that we’ll make more arrests,” Gray said.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) arrested Derek Summers and Mindy Harris of Woodlawn in early January, charging each of them with one count of accessory after the fact for helping Wallace while he was on the run.
At the time of his arrest in Stewart County on October 5, Wallace was wanted on nine charges including two counts of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, aggravated arson, especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated kidnapping.
Wallace pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges in court on January 14.
Gray said TBI is handling the investigation but he receives information, tips, bits and pieces, which he passes along to the agency.
