CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Salvation Army has kicked-off their Angel Tree program for the Christmas season. The Angel Trees help provide a brighter holiday for needy children in the community and make their Christmas wishes come true.
There are five locations in Clarksville where you’ll find Angel Trees and adopt an Angel from the tree and purchase clothing and/or toys for a youngster. They can be found at Center Court at Governors Square Mall, all three Walmart Super Center locations and the Salvation Army office at 210 Kraft St.
Each angel has information on it about a local child. You’ll find their name, age, clothing sizes and toys they would like to have for Christmas. Just shop for clothing or toys for the child and return the gifts, with the Angel, to the location you adopted it.
If you picked an Angel off the tree at Governors Square return the gifts to the mall office, at Walmart return them and the Angel to the customer service desk or the Salvation Army office if you picked it up there. All gifts should be new and unwrapped and must be returned by December 15.
The Salvation Army also has a new service this year for the Angel Tree at Governors Square on the weekends. To save time over the busy holidays, you can choose an Angel, make a monetary donation, and a Salvation Army volunteer will do the shopping for you.
“All angels have to be back by December 15 and the distribution day is December 20, that’s when the kids come and get all of their toys. We’re expecting to have close to 1,500 Angels this year helping needy kids have a Merry Christmas,” said Captain Mark Love with the Salvation Army.
