CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kenwood Knights traveled to Rossview High on a rainy Halloween night for a region 7-6A matchup with the Hawks. The Knights needed a win to keep their postseason hopes alive, but the Hawks had other plans. Rossview quarterback Reed Bryant scored three touchdowns on the ground, and their defense stifled Kenwood for a 24-0 victory. The win clinches Rossview a top 3 seed and eliminates Kenwood from playoff contention.
Bryant wasted no time finding the endzone as he scored two first quarter rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile, Mick Casto knocked in a 31-yard field goal to extend the Hawks lead to 17-0 when the halftime buzzer sounded. Rossview High head coach Todd Hood loved the team effort his team displayed early into the game.
“It was a full team win tonight,” Hood told Clarksville Now. “Offense came out put some points on the board, drove down got some points off the turnover, defense got huge stops, and special teams were on fire.”
Kenwood High had chances to score throughout the game, but they could not put any points on the board. Despite the 24-0 loss, Kenwood head coach Jarhett Snead said he was proud of his guys.
“I hate that this is the way our season ends,” Snead said. “I love my guys, it’s amazing how much growth they’ve shown this year. These kids have succeeded … I couldn’t be prouder.”
For the Hawks, they now turn their attention to the postseason and await the winner of Kirkwood High and West Creek tomorrow to find out when and where they’ll be playing.
