CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High baseball traveled to West Creek High on Monday for the two sides’ second meeting of the season. The Hawks came out victorious 15-5 during the first game of the series. Monday was no different as Rossview dominated from start to finish, winning the game 17-3.
The away team began the game with an aggressive offensive approach. The game plan worked to their advantage as the Hawks scored 13 runs in the first three innings. This was in part due to Rossview’s ability to drive the ball into the outfield for extra bases. The team totaled four extra base hits through three, which included a three-run homerun by Dylan Kazee.
West Creek showcased their ability to get runners on base early on, but struggled to drive runs in until the third inning. Cannon Rice showcased his ability to make batters miss. Rice struck out five batters through his three innings of work before being taken out of the game. Reid Leonard took over in relief and sailed Rossview to victory.
After five innings, the Hawks run ruled the Coyotes, which led them to being named the No. 1 seed in the upcoming district tournament.
“It’s a honor anytime you can win the regular season title and host district tournament games on your home field,” said Rossview head coach Parker Holman. “Our district has been competitive this year from top to bottom. West Creek is right there in the mix, and there’s a number of teams in the district who can defeat you on any given night. I am just proud of the guys for battling through and earning the home field advantage.”
