Ronald Lewis Cherry Sr. was called home to glory on, September 6, 2017, in Clarksville, Tennessee.

He was born April 25, 1955, in Seaford, Delaware, to the late Helen Victoria Cherry Cannon and late Isaac Cannon. He served many years, honorably in the United States Army, until retirement, as a drill sergeant, where he earned numerous accolades. He also worked for the Veterans Healthcare System. He graduated from the University of Phoenix, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

Affectionately called “Da” by his children, “Poppa” by his grandchildren, “Ronnie” by his family, “Cherry” by friends and “Obad’yah” by the followers of his faith, he knew no strangers. He loved by example, opening his home to all those that were in need of a place to reside or a food to eat, never judging, his only request was for you to pay it forward. Possessing a quiet demeanor, he respected all, and all respected him.

Ronald was strong in mind, body, spirit, commitment to his family values and faith. Later in life he believed in the Hebrew teachings of Yahweh. He could always make you smile and he loved home gatherings with all of his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, as he would teach them the Word, along with spreading wisdom of behavior, history, love, and the significance of making your word your bond.

He will forever be cherished and loved by his Children, Ronald Nieves Jr. of Tennessee (cared for him until he took his very last breath), Cherronnie Cherry (loved him dearly) of Georgia, until the day of his death a devoted friend, mother to his children, and confidant for over 30 Years, Nora Cherry Burton of Pennsylvania, along with a host of Friends and other loved ones.
