CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Flooding along the Cumberland River and the Red River, along with rainfall making lakes of low-lying areas, has caused several road closures in Clarksville and Montgomery County.

Among the closures, the Montgomery County Highway Department has closed a section of Dunlop to install a pump to drain the large stormwater basins nearby. The county has created a map for road closures, and it can be found here: CMC Road Closure information site.

Here are the reported closures as of Sunday morning, from county and driver reports:

  • Dunbar Cave area: Dunbar Cave Road between Old Dunbar and Wingate Way, Idaho Springs Road near Dunbar Cave Road, Front Street, Acuff Road, Idlewood Drive near Kimberly Drive.
  • Palmyra: Palmyra Road by Hematite.
  • West Montgomery County: North Liberty Church Road.
  • Northwest Clarksville: Woodbridge Drive north of Millstone Circle; Carmack Drive, Spees Drive between Danielle Drive and Bridgette Drive; Woodale Drive west of Donna Drive, Donna just south of Woodale; Freestone Drive, Elberta Drive; Saratoga Drive between Shanee Terrace and Bunker Hill Road, Shanee Terrace and Ashbury Road; Meadowbrook Drive; Rebecca Lane and Halbrook Drive.
  • Hilldale: Liberty Parkway between Golf Club Lane and Madison Street.
  • Downtown: Thomas Street near Riverside Drive.
  • Woodstock subdivision: Woodstock Drive, Woodstock Court.
  • International Boulevard north of Hankook Tire.
  • Cunningham: Martha’s Chapel Road at Robert’s Road, Batson Road between Akin Road and Old Highway 48.
  • Northeast Clarksville: Glenhurst Way between Northfield Drive and Meadow Knoll Lane, Meadow Knoll, Country Fields Lane.
  • Kirkwood: Dunlop Lane from Michaela Circle to John Duke Tyler Boulevard, Dalton Smith Court, Dunlop at Charles Bell Road.
  • Port Royal: Old Clarksville Springfield Road off of Port Royal Road.
  • Hickory Point: Gholson Road along the river.
  • Southside: Chapel Hill Road past Hunter Road.
  • Cumberland City Ferry: Shut down until Tuesday (driver reported).

Remember: “Turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
