NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A bill introduced in the state legislature would automatically award veterans who served 20 years in the military a special bachelor’s degree.
HB 126, filed by Rep. Jason Hodges would create a unique degree that only military retirees would qualify for.
“I believe after 20 years of military service, a veteran has attained more than enough experience and education to be awarded a bachelor’s degree,” Rep. Hodges told ClarksvilleNow.
There would be no fees attached to the degree and the bill would require all state institutions of higher learning to offer it.
Hodges, a Democrat from Clarksville, formerly served on the Montgomery County Commission before winning election to the State House of Representatives in November.
Hodges, represents District 67. Reach him on Twitter @JasonAHodgesTN
