CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) The first Miss Natural Hair Clarksville Beauty pageant will be held July 21, 2018 at Kenwood High School’s theatre.
The Miss Natural Hair Clarksville Beauty pageant was created in an effort to educate and empower the natural haired girls of the community.
“In the past, natural hair has carried a negative connotation and has not always been considered beautiful,” pageant spokesperson Breeanna Jackson said. “Although a natural hair trend has taken the media world by storm, there is no place to advocate or foster support for natural hair in the Clarksville area. This may breed an inability for natural-haired young girls to be confident in who they are and how they appear naturally which has an effect on their overall well-being.”
Organizers want the pageant to be a positive force in the community that will encourage mental and emotional well-being, professionalism, etiquette and public speaking of the participants as well as creating an innovative display of appreciation for natural hair.
Registration is now open to contestants and sponsorships for the first annual Miss Natural Hair Clarksville Beauty Pageant. If interested, please contact Breeanna Jackson at 931-444-6168 or by email at mnhcbeauty.clarksville@gmail.com.
