CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville experienced a surge of vehicle crimes over the weekend. According to Clarksville police, 16 vehicle burglaries and 10 stolen vehicles were reported between Friday, June 21 and Monday June 24.
Out of the 16 vehicle burglaries, only one showed signs of forced entry. Among the stolen goods were two guns, laptops, credit cards, and approximately $150 in cash. Many of the vehicles were rummaged through and nothing appeared to be taken. One arrest has been made in connection with the break-ins.
Out of the 10 thefts, 8 involved keys that were left unattended in the unlocked vehicle. So far, two of the stolen vehicles have been recovered, having likely been abandoned by the thieves.
While processing the vehicles and interviewing victims, CPD noted multiple instances where surveillance footage showed small groups of people wandering through neighborhoods attempting to break in to vehicles.

Clarksville police are asking the public to check any surveillance footage they may have which could help them identify suspects in this string of thefts.
Citizens are encouraged to call 911 should they find footage which may be helpful in locating suspects.
As always, officials urge citizens to lock your vehicle and do not leave valuables inside unattended vehicles.
