CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- Renowned woodworker Rob Cosman will be making a special stop in Clarksville to encourage wounded warriors and veterans.

Rob Cosman is a world-renowned hand-tool woodworker that tours North America doing hand-tool demonstrations and classes. Cosman had a veteran take one of his classes, and the veteran told him that the class was extremely therapeutic for his PTSD.
This changed Cosman’s life and he began devoting his time and resources to developing what became the Purple Heart Project.

The Purple Heart Program allows woodworkers who are veterans or active-duty to fly to Canada for an all-expense-paid workshop focused on healing and learning. During the workshop,  physically and mentally wounded warriors, suffering the negative effects of combat, learn how to find peace and joy through the therapy of traditional hand-tool woodworking.

Cosman, his son Jake and his associate Dave will be at The Hardwood Grove, 2535 Madison Street, on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18.

On Jan. 17, Cosman will be available for a 2-hour meet and greet. The event is open to the public.  Cosman will be discussing the Purple Heart Project.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, there will be three demonstrations scheduled and this event will only be open to combat veterans. Cosman will be teaching how to sharpen tools, the dovetail, and the half-blind dovetail techniques.
“We want to allow combat-wounded veterans to meet Rob Cosman, but also increase the awareness. Every combat veteran knows someone with PTSD, anxiety, a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or are a Purple Heart recipient,” said Danny Bell, owner of the Hardwood Grove. ” Rob’s visit will increase the exposure and reach of using woodworking as a positive outlet.”
Bell attended the Purple Heart Project in 2019 and wanted to introduce Cosman to the Clarksville community.
The event is free. If you have questions or want to register for the event email  danny@hardwoodgrove.com .
