In a continuing quest toward law enforcement excellence, the Clarksville Police Department is scheduled for an on-site re-accreditation assessment during the week of March 23, 2020 to verify that the department meets the state-of –the-art professional standards.

The assessment is part of a voluntary program administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).  The accreditation program requires agencies to comply in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 5:00 PM.  The session will be conducted at the City Council Chambers located at 106 Public Square.

Agency employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling (931) 614-5702 on Wednesday March 24, 2020 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.  Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.  A copy of the standards is available at 135 Commerce Street in the Chief of Police’s Office.  Local contact is Sergeant Charles Gill at 931 648-0656 ext. 5232.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Clarksville Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA),      13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155
