CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast High School students gathered inside the school’s gymnasium Saturday afternoon for the traditional red carpet walk, an opportunity for students to highlight their style and fashion for family members and friends, before they headed to Nashville for Prom 2023.

“We have about 270 students going with us this year, for a night of dinner and dancing at Opryland Hotel,” said NEHS economics teacher Kaytee Turner, the Class of 2023 senior class sponsor. “Only seniors can buy tickets, but juniors can come as their guests.”

Couples, friends, trios and singles, took their turn, being announced, then crossing in front of an audience of hundreds. After having their pictures taken, they boarded the buses lined up outside.

The NEHS approach to prom dates back probably more than 30 years. “This precedes me,” Turner said. “I think that’s why we still do it. It has become a tradition at this point, something that everyone looks forward to.”
