CUNNINGHAM, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Central Civitan Club is hosting the 109th annual Lone Oak Picnic, Saturday, July 29 at the Central Civitan Building, 275 Highway 13, Alonzo Place in Cunningham, Tennessee.

Sheila Thompson with the Civitan Club said there will be BBQ, inflatables, laser tag, a silent auction, a car show, music from the Back Lot Pickers, community fellowship and more.

Traditionally in election years, the picnic has been a gathering place for the public to hear from local and state political candidates running for office. Democratic Candidate for Governor of Tennessee, Karl Dean, is scheduled to make an appearance at the picnic.

The event is free but money raised from the sale of BBQ and the silent auction will go to support a number of community projects like Montgomery Central High, Middle, and Elementary Schools along with Cumberland Heights Elementary.

The club also chartered a new Junior Civitan program at Montgomery Central Middle School which they support. Funds are also donated to local volunteer fire services and victims of fires, to name just a few.

Just before the Lone Oak Picnic, the 3rd Annual Be More Like Wade Scholarship 5K Run, Walk, or Crawl will take place at Montgomery Central High School. The event is in memory of Wade Morgan, an MCHS graduate who passed away in 2015, and raises funds for scholarships for Montgomery Central seniors.
