CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian was hit and killed Sunday night in Clarksville on Arrowood Dr.

According to Officer Natalie Hall with the Clarksville Police Department, the pedestrian, William Leftwich, 20, was walking on Arrowood Dr., near Wal-Mart on Fort Campbell Blvd around 9:20 p.m. The area is poorly lit and Leftwich was wearing dark clothing. The driver, Trent Uglow, 18, was driving a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder eastbound toward Wal-Mart and did not see Leftwich until just before the collision, when he swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting him.

Leftwich died at the scene from his injuries.

Police say Uglow did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and voluntarily gave blood for testing.

The crash is still under investigation and charges are not pending at this time.
