My campaign is about more than politics – it’s about people. We are stronger when we all work together to create a community that works for everyone.
A community that works for everyone has a strong and free public education system. It provides affordable and quality healthcare and it invests in infrastructure to attract industry and jobs. I believe in the people of the 74th district, but I also believe that we have a lot of work to do in our community. That is why I am running to be our state representative.
A free and strong public education system is the foundation for our future. We must fully fund our public schools so our teachers have the resources they need to teach so our children will thrive. This is especially important in the 74th district because the majority of our children go to state-funded public schools. I am the husband of a public school teacher at Waverly Elementary School and the father of two children in public school. I know the importance of these schools and I will fight tirelessly to provide the funding they need.
Whether you are a parent, business owner, veteran or student – we all have a right to the best medical care that can be provided. Our local hospitals and medical programs need the requisite funding and provisions in order to provide the care we depend on daily. We must pass Governor Bill Haslam’s Insure Tennessee so that 280,000 Tennesseans, including 24,000 veterans, get the care they deserve.
Our district, as you know, is primarily rural and we must have a strong infrastructure to ensure stability, growth, and attract new industries to our district. I plan to work with and on behalf of our local leaders in all three counties to support efforts at the state level for maintaining and growing a strong industrial and business environment. My goal is to put the needs of the district before partisan politics by using a common sense approach to the issues we face. I look forward to meeting with residents in the coming weeks and welcome any questions or concerns.
Please remember that early voting runs through November 3rd. Election Day is November 8th.
