CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northwest High School head boys basketball coach Thomas Stanley is stepping down after three years in the position. Stanley told Clarksville Now he’s leaving to spend more time with his family and children.
“My decision to leave the Northwest basketball program had nothing to do with being unhappy or the team at all,” Stanley said. “In fact, I’m incredibly thankful for my time there and for everything the program has done for me. This decision was entirely about being closer to home and my family. I’ll always be grateful for the relationships and experiences I had at Northwest, and I’ll continue to support the program moving forward. Northwest school, administrators, coaches, and the team will always hold a special place in my heart.”
In his time as head coach, Stanley made the regional tournament all three years, making it to the semifinals once. In his last year, Northwest made a run to the District 14- 4A championship game, upsetting West Creek and the eventual Region 7-4A champions, Dickson County.
Northwest is returning several key players, including All Area selections Ja’Quez Scott and DJ Dallas.
