CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Summit Lady Spartans traveled to Northeast High School for a matchup with the Eagles on a cold Thursday night. The Eagles kept pace early, but between the second and third quarters, they only scored 5 combined points, which led to a 60-27 loss.
The game was kept close early into the contest, with both teams battling defensively, resulting in an 18-10 score after the first quarter. The second quarter was where things took a turn for the worse for the Lady Eagles, who were outscored 21-1 in the eight-minute span.
This included eight points from Summit guard Bridget Allee, who led all scorers with 18. In the third quarter, Northeast was outscored 12-4, and all of a sudden, Northeast found themselves in a 51-15 hole.

“We started off playing much better than we have, then we just fell apart,” said Eagles head coach Tracie Mason-Blair. “We couldn’t take care of the ball and couldn’t get stops. We handled their press well early, but then when you get in the hole, it’s hard to dig yourself out.”
The Eagles battled in the fourth despite the big lead, with forward Destinee Marshall scoring eight in the period, but the damage was already done, and Summit came away with a big win on Exit One.
“Every time we play, there are glimpses of what we can be,” said Mason-Blair. “We play hard, we get better every game, but there is still a whole lot we need to work on.”
