CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Hundreds of people came out Saturday to support the opening of the new branch of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library and the new Montgomery County Animal Services shelter and headquarters. Both buildings are on the same campus at 435 Jordan Road.
The North Branch Library is the first extension of the CMC Public Library since it was established over 100 years ago. The branch location has expanded resources, updated technology, as well as self-checkout kiosks, study and meeting rooms and outdoor spaces. The children’s section features gaming computers, puzzles, toys, an adjacent activity room, and an outdoor play space.
During the grand opening celebration, visitors were able to tour the new library spaces and had a chance to receive a limited-edition library card while enjoying food trucks and activities. The opening comes after years of planning and funding debates among county officials, with the property purchased for the library back in 2018.
Separate programming will be offered at the branch in addition to the main library schedule. This includes recurring story time and crafts for young kids, as well as programming for teenagers and adults. New Animal Services shelter and offices
Right next door is the new Montgomery County Animal Services building, which houses dozens of holding areas for dogs and cats, with a separate space for incoming strays, an outdoor dog run and field, cat patios and cat recreation areas, along with rooms for bonding with pets.
Kennels are equipped with lookout windows for pets, along with direct access to outdoors for dogs. This upgraded, clean space already held several animals on Saturday who are looking for their forever homes.
