CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Ask any high school football player what most Friday night warriors dream of, and you’re most likely going to get the same answer: To play on Saturdays.
There are so many factors that go into playing at the next level, but the one constant is exposure. National Playmakers Academy (NPA) prides itself on not only developing athletes, but young men with character.
On May 15th, their 2016 exposure camp makes it stop in Clarksville at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium.
NPA founder and CEO is Maurice “Buck” Fitzgerald. The former Pearl Cohn high school standout and Tennessee Volunteer prides the program on several things.
“The main purpose for NPA is to help student athletes achieve their dream of playing college football. We do that through developing the entire student athlete. We work extensively on player and skill development, helping kids get much needed exposure and academics and ACT prep,” Fitzgerald said.
The series of NPA camps definitely enables high school players to showcase their talent.
“It’s crucial and it is more important every year. Coaches are identifying prospects earlier. And it’s important to make sure the athlete is on the radar of potential programs that the athlete can play,” Fitzgerald said. “Camps provide an opportunity for a prospect to display his skill set as well as athletic ability to gain that much needed exposure both through the recruiting media as well as college coaches.”
Fitzgerald, along with Kevin Smith, Brent Alexander, and the rest of his accredited coaching staff, currently have over 40 student athletes playing on the college level, and five in the NFL, including 2016 1st round draft pick, Jalen Ramsey.
The camp costs are $50 for early online registration, and $75 day of the camp. Registration starts at 2 p.m., camp begins at 3 p.m.
